Dr. Usmani has successfully completed numerous diploma courses on Halal Food and Islamic banking and finance from prestigious institutions. His certifications include IRCA CERTIFIED lead auditor, CIE certified Islamic banker, SANHA certified halal lead auditor, and Certified Shariah Auditor and Advisor (CSSA, AAOIFI). He is passionate about Islamic Banking and Halal lifestyle, striving to make Shariah-compliant halal products and structures integral to all aspects of life. This passion has led him to work with various international and local organizations. He has served in Meezan Bank for almost 8 years, which is the largest Islamic bank in Pakistan, as a Shariah Scholar. He is also associated with ZTBL as a Shariah Board Member, where his primary role is the supervision of the bank's conversion. Dr. Usmani is associated with TUV AUSTRIA as a Shariah Expert, operating in different countries across Asia and Europe. He serves as a Shariah Advisor in the GMR foundation Fiji Islands, Iqra Islamic Trust Fiji Islands, and is a member of the Halal Advisory Services at Comsats University Lahore. Additionally, he is associated with the National Institution of Banking and Finance (NIBAF, a subsidiary of the State Bank of Pakistan), University of Central Punjab, and Jamia Ashrafia Lahore as a visiting faculty member.
Dr. Usmani is also affiliated with IRCA (International Register of Certificated Auditors) and The Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) as a Certified Lead Auditor of ISO9001. He has extensive experience in delivering lectures nationally and internationally and has presented various research papers at different international and local forums.
His research and publications include a PhD doctoral thesis on Islamic treasury operations, articles on bill discounting and its alternatives, currency-based salam as an alternative to bill discounting, the Sharia verdict on hajj funds deposited in conventional banks, and the impact of hadith bai ul kaali bil kaali on conventional financial institutions. He also engages in fatwa writing on various Islamic issues.

Datuk Prof. Dr. Akram is actively involved in numerous key financial and advisory institutions, including being a member of the Bank Negara Malaysia Shari'ah Advisory Council, Chairman of the Shari'ah Board of Employees Provident Fund Malaysia (EPF), Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Council of Labuan Financial Services Authority (FSA), and a member of the Shariah Supervisory Boards of Dubai Islamic Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), Bank Musqat Meethaq Islamic Bank, and Eiger Trading Advisors Limited (UK). He is also a member of the Financial Regulation Advisory Council of Experts (FRACE), Central Bank of Nigeria, Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Committees of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB), and President of the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance (ASAS). Additionally, he is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM).
Prof. Akram holds a B.A. (Hons) in Islamic Jurisprudence and Legislation from the University of Jordan and a Ph.D. in Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) from the University of Edinburgh, UK. He has authored numerous academic works and research papers in Islamic banking and finance and has been actively engaged in training professionals in the sector since 1999. As a registered Shariah Advisor for Islamic Securities with the Securities Commission of Malaysia, he has played a pivotal role in structuring sukuk issuances.
Datuk Prof. Dr. Mohamad Akram has received several awards and recognitions, including the Zaki Badawi Award for Excellence in Shariah Advisory and Research, Most Outstanding Individual Contribution to Islamic Finance (KLIFF 2016), Malaysian Islamic Personality Award (2017/1439H) by the Government of Malaysia, and Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN), Commander of the Order of Meritorious Service (2022), conferred by the King of Malaysia, carrying the title "Datuk". With a wealth of experience and expertise, Datuk Prof. Dr. Mohamad Akram remains a highly respected figure in Islamic finance, contributing significantly to the global financial landscape.

Academically, Sheikh Asim Kamal holds two bachelor’s degrees: 1) a first-class honors degree in Islamic Economics and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), where he received the Best Student in Islamic Economics Award, and 2) a first-class honors degree in Shariah (Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh) from Al-Madinah International University. He further earned a master’s specializing in Islamic Finance from INCEIF Malaysia and is currently pursuing a PhD at IIUM.
In addition to his certifications, including the AAOIFI-accredited Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA), he has traditionally studied Islamic sciences under scholars in Malaysia, Yemen, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Dr. Usmani holds dual master’s degrees in Islamic Studies and Arabic, complemented by an MS in Islamic Banking & Finance. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Islamic Banking & Finance, further solidifying his academic credentials. His foundational training includes specialization in Islamic Fiqh and fatwa writing (Mufti Course) from Darul Ifta Mahad At-Tirmizi, and he currently serves as Rafeeq Darulifta (Mufti) at Darul Ifta Jamia Ashrafia Lahore.
In addition to his scholarly work, Dr. Usmani is the Head of Halal Advisory and In-charge of Training & Courses at the Center of Islamic Finance (CIF-COMSATS University Lahore). He has contributed as a visiting faculty member at prestigious institutions such as Minhaj University, Punjab University, Bahria University, and The Institute of Bankers Pakistan (IBP).
With extensive experience in Halal auditing, Dr. Usmani has collaborated with renowned certification bodies like TUV Austria and SANHA. He is the Executive Director of International Halal Assurance-HA and the founder of the Significant Training Center-STC, reflecting his commitment to education and ethical compliance.
Dr. Usmani’s international engagements include projects with organizations such as Islamic Relief UK, GASAM Turkey, GHA Fiji Islands, and Halal Blockchain South Africa. Dr. Jamil has a rich teaching and training career, currently serving as a lecturer in Arabic and Islamic Studies at Government MAO College, Lahore, and as a visiting lecturer at HCBF, International Islamic University, Islamabad. He has also taught Islamic finance and jurisprudence at the International Islamic University and worked as a research fellow at LUMS. His role as a Fatwa Consultant at Dar al-Ifta underscores his commitment to providing scholarly guidance on Islamic matters.

He is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in writing Fatwas and 11 years of experience serving as a Shariah Advisor for leading financial institutions in Pakistan. He is also a Shariah Board Member of the National Bank of Pakistan.
Mufti Usmani has extensive experience providing Shariah consultancy to various Takaful companies and has been actively involved in structuring Sukuk products to ensure their Shariah compliance. Since 2015, he has served as a Shariah Advisor in Pakistan and has also provided consultancy in Oman’s Takaful sector. His deep knowledge has contributed significantly to the development of Islamic financial structures.
In addition to his consultancy work, Mufti Usmani has 9 years of experience working with leading auditing firms such as PWC and Deloitte Pakistan.
